Each day, he and his team scour the Earth, swapping places with humans fated to die and bearing the pain of their final moments. It's a cruel profession, but they have no choice. Emotions fade the longer a soul exists without a body. Dying retains their humanity. He can handle most deaths. But then there are the ones with Claire. Watching her pull the trigger night after night pains him more than the bullets ripping through his heart. Why is she doing this? And more importantly, how did he not see it coming? There may be a way to stop her, but to do so, he must uncover the truth behind the murders, confront the demons he left buried on Earth, and of course, die, many, many more times. |
